About Myself

This is the personal portfolio site of James McGinley: web developer/web designer and software engineer turned software engineering manager from the greater Seattle area. I have been a developer/designer for marketing companies and smaller startups, a platform engineer for game companies, and a manager specializing in navigating the complex issues of remote workplaces so many people find themselves in today.

Design and Engineering

I have worked on marketing projects for several high-profile clients such as Intuit, Oakley, Nickelodeon, Mitsubishi Electric, Odyssey Golf, Kyocera, and Top Flite. This work spanned from email campaigns, marketing websites, and advertisements (print, video, web-based, interactive).

I have been part of a team that has worked on, released, and/or provided services for a number of games for Motiga (Gigantic), uGen (Q.U.I.R.K.), and Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro (Magic: the Gathering Arena, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, Magic Spellslingers, and more yet to be announced).

The platform services provided for these games are what powers their accounts, administration, customization, marketing, monetization, progression, and/or e-commerce.

Management

It has been a mixed blessing to have started my management journey during some unprecedented times. I have been perfecting remote management and servant leadership and have pushed myself to never stop learning. I have passed the Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) test.

I recently been studying to improve my skills with Team Topologies, Extreme Ownership, and Managing Up.
